Nepal issued 468 Everest permits for spring 2025. By 27 May, the Department of Tourism counted 694 summits from the Nepal side: 257 foreign climbers, 9 Nepali permit holders, 421 Sherpas and other high-altitude guides and 7 members of the rope-fixing team. Around 100 more climbers summited from Tibet, putting the season near 800 ascents.
Two people died on Everest itself: Philippine climber Phillip II Santiago at Camp IV and Indian climber Subrata Ghosh near the Hillary Step. Two more died on Lhotse, which shares the route up to the South Col area. Reporting at the end of the season credited better weather forecasting and closer coordination of rope-fixing and summit days for a much lower toll than the three seasons before.
