Privacy Policy

Merolog (“Merolog”, “we”, “us”) operates this site, a structured progress-journaling
platform. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have
about it.

1. Information we collect

When you register, we collect an email address, a password (stored as a one-way hash, never
in plain text), a display handle, and a birthdate — the birthdate exists only to confirm you
meet the site’s minimum age at signup and is never shown to anyone else, including other
Merolog users; it is visible only to you, on your own Account page.

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and Google’s confirmation that
it’s verified. We don’t receive your Google password or access anything else in your Google
account.

The content you choose to create — Logs, Entries, images, comments, reactions — is stored so
the app can show it back to you and, if you choose to make a Log public, to anyone. You control
each Log’s visibility (private, unlisted, or public) at all times; see Section 4.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect
forms against forgery (WordPress’s own session and security cookies). These aren’t used for
advertising or tracking and can’t be disabled without breaking the ability to sign in.

Pages on this site may also display advertisements served by Google, through Google
AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to
this site or other sites, and to measure ad performance. You can learn more about how Google
uses this information at

and you can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting

or aboutads.info.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you’ll be shown a
consent message before any personalized advertising cookies are set, using Google’s own
consent tooling — no ad-personalization cookies are set for these visitors without that
consent first.

3. What we don’t do

We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t use your content to train third-party
models. We don’t share your birthdate, real name, or private/unlisted content with anyone —
including other users — under any circumstance other than a valid legal request.

4. Visibility is entirely your choice

Every Log you create starts private and stays private until you change it. Private
Logs are visible only to you. Unlisted Logs are visible to anyone with the
direct link but never appear in search, the homepage feed, or the sitemap. Public
Logs appear in all of those places. You can change a Log’s visibility at any time from its
Settings page, and the change takes effect immediately across the whole site — including
removing it from the next sitemap regeneration.

5. Community moderation

Only public content can be reported for moderation review. Private and
unlisted content is never eligible for the report queue, and a public Log that’s later made
private drops out of the moderation queue too — moderation exists only for the content you’ve
actively chosen to make openly discoverable.

6. Your rights and choices

You can update your display handle, birthdate, email, and password at any time from your
Account page. To request a full export or deletion of your account and its content, email us
at hello@merolog.com — we handle these requests
manually and will confirm once complete.

7. Children’s privacy

Merolog requires every account to meet a minimum age at signup (16 by default) and this is
enforced server-side, not just in the interface. This site is not directed at children under
13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

8. Changes to this policy

We’ll update the date above whenever this policy changes. Material changes will be
reflected here before they take effect.
